Kimora Lee Simmons is a name synonymous with fashion among young women in today’s fashion industry so why I she leaving her biggest venture, Baby Phat, behind? E! news was the first to report that this designer is leaving her baby in the past and jet setting with her new lines into the future.

The designer reportedly will split from her fourteen year bond with Kellwood Company to begin focusing more on other projects. Included in these projects are her two clothing lines Fabulousity and Kouture by Kimora and her Style hit reality show Life In the Fab Lane which is venturing into the fourth season.

Simmons began her rise to fame when she was named “The Face of the 21st Century” by Karl Lagerfeld. After that the Asian and African American model landed a contract with the House of Chanel where she became a 5’10 supermodel. Not only did she land an exclusive deal with Chanel but she began to appear on the cover of magazines like Vogue, Elle and Harpers Bazaar. Fendi, Yves Saint Laurent and Armani are just a small group of the designers who scooped up this ethnic diva for runway shows and campaigns.

Soon after becoming a supermodel in the fashion industry and public eye she began working with Phat Farm and developed the concept of “Baby Phat” which was marketed the Phat Farm brand to women who were more than welcoming to the line. Currently she has had a hand in developing Baby Phat and Baby Phat Kids.

Today she is not only a supermodel but she is also a mogul of the industry. Simmons has countless experience including reality show appearances and stardom, co-hosting, writing a book and developing two new lines from her own ideas.
